Of State welcomes National Team

Luanda,
09/10/05 - The Angolan National soccer team, arrived
this afternoon in the country, after beating on Saturday
Rwanda by 1-0, in Amahouro Stadium, in Kigali and was welcomed
at the "4 de Fevereiro International
Airport" in Luanda by several Government members headed
by the President of the Republic, José Eduardo dos
Santos.
Besides
the Angolan Statesman, were also at the welcoming ceremony
the governor of Luanda, Job Capapinha, deputy ministers of
Sports, Albino Carlos and Malungo Belo, Chairpersons
of sporting federations and associations and the population
in general.
Saturday`s match against Rwanda marks the entry of Angola in
the group of the world biggest national soccer teams, a deed
that was recognised by President José Eduardos dos Santos,
who addressed a congratulatory message to the national squad
and technical team.
Among the national team players that were welcomed by the Angolan
President are Lamá and Zeca Langa (Petro de Luanda), Loko
(Benfica de Luanda), Jacinto, Jamba, Yamba Asha and Love Kabungula
(ASA), Lebo Lebo (Sagrada Esperança),
Maurito (Al Garafh of Qatar), João Ricardo (Moirerense),
Figueiredo and Mendonça (Varzim), Pedro Mantorras (Benfica), Paulinho
(GD Ribeira Brava), Gilberto and Flávio (Al Ali of Egypt), Marcos Airosa
(Barreirense FC) and skipper Akwá (Al Wakra).
Angolan President says victory
was fair´
Luanda, 09/10/05 - Angola`s Head of State José Eduardo dos
Santos on Sunday in Luanda said that the national soccer team`s
victory, attained on Saturday in Kigali, Rwanda, was `sweaty,
deserved and fair.`
"Let the world recognises the merit of the strong, (...) and of those who can
win", president dos Santos said so while speaking at the welcoming ceremony of
the Angolan official delegation, coming from Kigali, Rwanda, where the national
soccer team booked their ticket to Germany 2006 World Cup final, after beating
the hosts by 1-0.
According to the President of the Republic, "today it is a moment of happiness
and feasting, the Angolan people welcome their representatives with joy for
the quest attained in Kigali".
"Let us pay homage to the winners with a toast for their health and so that they
can achieve new conquests and more significant", asseverated José Eduardo
dos Santos, who has been accompanied by his wife, Ana Paula, Prime Minister,
Fernando da Piedade Dias dos Santos, and the first deputy Speaker of the National
Assembly.
The ceremony took place in one of Luanda International Airport`s protocol halls,
shortly after the arrival of the Angolan team.
